Built by Grumman, the S-2 Tracker served the Navy for many
years as a rugged aircraft carrier-based anti-submarine patrol aircraft. Nicknamed the
"Stoof" (from the S-2F designation), the S-2 also found a second carrier after
its Navy days were over, dropping fire retardent on forest fires, a role it will continue
to serve in for many years.
Mojo's S-2 is still in its original Navy configuration, never
having been modified for forest service work, and so is an accurate representation of the
hundreds of they type which, day in and day out, hunted for Soviet submarines in the
oceans around the world.
